Policy Statement

MOI is to embark on scientific research to understand the oceanic processes, to facilitate harnessing resources for Mauritius from its legal maritime zones and to become a hub of regional collaboration and global cooperation for the Indian Ocean Studies. Simultaneously, MOI will carry out its function as the national coordinating body for oceanographic activities in the country.

Vision

To contribute towards the advancement of oceanography at the national, regional and international level for the welfare of the people of the Republic of Mauritius.

Mission

To develop and strengthen oceanographic research, using an integrated scientific approach, to enhance understanding of ocean and coastal processes, for rational development of marine resources, within the maritime zone of the Republic of Mauritius.
