The Mauritius Oceanography Institute is organising the third National Forum (NOSF) on the 29th of August 2005 at the Grand Baie International Conference Centre.

The main objectives of the Forum are:

• to communicate new marine research and ocean development activities to the scientific community and interested public;
• to offer a platform for multidisciplinary discussion among the scientists, academics and policy makers on scientific needs and economic potential of oceanographic research;
• to promote understanding and public appreciation of the

The NOSF is an opportunity for making an annual inventory of all marine related research work carried out in Mauritius.

Deadline for submission of abstracts(for papers or posters): 15th June 2005
Deadline for registration: 30th July 2005

Participants are kindly requested to note that the Mauritius Oceanography Institute is not in a position to sponsor foreign visitors. Requests for sponsorship should be addressed to the Western Indian Ocean Marine Association (WIOMSA) secretariat.

The National Ocean Science Forum will be followed by the Fourth Scientific Symposium of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Association as from the 30th of August 2005 at the same venue.

Participants of the WIOMSA symposium are invited to attend the NOSF on the 29th of August.
